Thanks to all participants of GAS2015

For the eighth time, NEN and ISO/TC 158 "Analysis of gases" organized the International Gas Analysis Symposium & Exhibition (GAS2015). This unique gas analysis event on calibration gases, equipment and optimization of industrial processes combines science, standardization and practical analytical techniques, attracted over two hundred experts from thirty countries all over the world. GAS2015 took place at World Trade Centre Rotterdam, the Netherlands from 10 through 12 June 2015.

GAS2015 was opened by Michal Malicki from ESA, the European Space Agency. In his opening speech he gave two practical examples of analysis of gases: off-gas measurements of VOCs and CO2 that happen during space missions. GAS2015 continued with parallel sessions on 'natural gas & biogas', 'metrology, standardization & certification', 'analytical applications', and 'health, safety and the environment'. Almost 70 lectures gave insight in the new research developments in these areas. The lectures were well received and provided input for discussion and gaining new ideas. The best lecture was awarded to Minami Amano from the National Metrology Institute of Japan. During a poster session some 40 experts had the opportunity to present their result research and answer the questions from the participants. The best poster was awarded to Daiana Leuenberger from METAS. The exhibition floor with 26 exhibitors was a convenient meeting and networking place during the breaks and opening drinks. Networking opportunities were also offered during the social event at Madurodam, a miniature park with a range of 1:25 scale model replicas of famous Dutch landmarks, historical cities and large developments. Rob Wessel, chair of ISO/TC 158, concluded GAS2015 by inviting participants to become active in this technical committee to develop the international standards needed by the market. All participants, sponsors and exhibitors were thanked for making GAS2015 a success.
